Tibouchina urvilleana | Olivia™ Garden Specimen Plantings And Large Tubs | Emporium Range of Plants

Olivia™ Tibouchina urvilleana ‘TB01’ PBR Pending. Garden Specimen Plantings And Large Tubs | Emporium Range of Plants

Olivia™ is an impressive variegated form of Tibouchina. Red velvety buds open to rich royal purple blooms. From late spring, summer and through to early winter is when you’ll see their flowers appearing. The soft variegated foliage develops splashes of pink, yellow and green throughout the year. Olivia grows into a small to medium sized shrub at approximately 1-2 m tall x 1-2 m wide.

Available at Flower Power and other good nurseries

Uses

Great for garden specimen plantings and large tubs.

Position

Full sun to partly shaded positions. Olivia is great in humid conditions and due to its urvilleana parentage can cope with cold temperatures as low as -8° to -10° celsius. Although it can handle these conditions, it’ll most likely get burnt to the stem each year, even in moderate frosts.

Care

Keep moist in dry weather, protect from heavy frost. Olivia™ works well in well drained moist soils. It likes to be pruned once a year, although the frost may do the pruning for you in winter. It will re-shoot as the weather warms up.
